Clutching at the universe

Letting my eyes stray over the lines of the landscape, from the flat blue of the sea to the dented profile of the Greek shores, I remembered how I used to take the expanse of blue sea as a boundless platform, straight as a glass surface, supporting my gaze. The sea alone would give me that feeling. And the next second I felt my eyes hovering over the sea to the cliffy spongy edgy bulges of the islands and that sensation of eyes resting on it all came back vividly.

Like a spider, with legs wide spread out. Like a spider getting a grip on the whole world to brace myself and hang on, where I am suspended.
